James - Jason,

There is a definite lack of free documentation in the analytics space as a whole. Not just in how to implement the tools and capture the data, but how to do actual analysis. It would be nice if there were more proven methods published out there that were vendor independent that could be applied to any tool.

Thanks for the review Rudi.

I think I agree with James, there is a lack of free documentation in general when it comes to web analytics vendors. Omniture probably does the best job with the knowledge base but many of the articles make me think that someone who isn't technical and who hasn't had much hands on experience with the product wrote them.

Maybe we need a web analytics wiki or maybe I need to go grab some snacks so I can watch the Jazz/Nuggets game.

@rudi - agree with you on the review - Dennis has written an awesome book. My only niggle is that I'm debating whether the content of the book should really be material that's documented in the 'official' YWA documentation (as you'd get with say the Site Catalyst knowledge base and implementation manual). As a regular user of YWA for clients I'd have to say that 90% of the things I'm implementing for clients I wouldn't be able to do without having reference to Dennis' book. That's not to put Dennis down, but more of a comment on the lack of (free) published documentation on YWA implementation and usage.

Cheers, James
